From Skincare to Scent: A Custom Collaboration with Glo Skin Beauty

Starting with Ritual

When Glo Skin Beauty came to us ahead of their BioRenew EGF Rich Repair Cream launch, the goal wasn’t just to create a candle to pair with the product.

It was to create something that reflected the experience of skincare itself.

The quiet moments. The routine. The intention behind taking time for yourself.

Something that could live alongside that ritual and enhance it.

For us, this is always the most exciting place to begin — not with the product itself, but with how it’s meant to be felt.

Defining the Direction

Early on, we shifted away from thinking about this as a single scent or product.

Instead, we focused on the feeling of skincare as a ritual.

What does it look like to pause at the end of the day?
To slow down.
To take care of yourself in a way that feels intentional, not rushed.

That became our direction.

Everything we created needed to support that moment. Not distract from it, not overpower it, but sit within it naturally.

That balance is something we think about constantly — especially when designing for brands rooted in wellness.

Building the Scent

With that foundation, we moved into scent development.

We didn’t start with traditional fragrance categories — we started with the ingredients and intention behind Glo Skin Beauty's cream itself.

We looked at how the product performs — rich, reparative, deeply hydrating — and translated that into how the scent should feel. Not sharp or overly bright, but smooth, layered, and soft.

Each note was chosen to reflect a specific moment within the ritual.

Bergamot for that initial sense of uplift and revitalization — the moment you begin.
Olive leaf to ground the scent and bring in a soft, restorative quality.
And a subtle marine note to create a clean, fresh finish — mirroring that feeling of reset at the end.

We also pulled from key ingredients like chamomile, basil, and ginger — not to replicate them exactly, but to guide the direction toward something calming, balanced, and skin-adjacent.

The final scent feels clean, spa-like, and softly layered — something that enhances the moment without overpowering it.

For us, this part of the process is about translating something functional into something sensory — taking what a product does and turning it into something you can feel in a space.

Designing the Full Experience

Beyond the custom aroma itself, this collaboration was about building a cohesive experience.

Custom Vessel

We sourced a custom, co-branded vessel for both Glo Skin Beauty and Concrete Poppy. Something elevated, minimal, and aligned with Glo’s aesthetic while still grounded in our design approach.

Custom Packaging

Glo led the outer packaging, and we worked closely with their team to ensure the candle integrated seamlessly into that experience.

From unboxing to use, every detail was considered. The packaging wasn’t just functional, it was an extension of the ritual. Clean, intentional, and aligned with the feeling of care and restoration.

We also designed custom bottom labels to meet safety requirements while still feeling cohesive with the overall branding — something that’s small, but incredibly important in custom production.

From Product to Ritual

What we love most about this collaboration is how naturally it fits into real moments.

This candle wasn’t designed to sit on a shelf. It was designed to be lit during treatments, during routines, during those small pockets of time where someone is choosing to focus on themselves.

It becomes part of the process.

Part of the pause.

Candles have a way of signaling that shift — from routine into ritual. They create an environment that supports consistency, helping turn small moments of care into something more intentional and repeatable.

That’s always the goal for us — creating something that’s actually used, not just displayed.

Why This Approach Matters

The way a product feels goes beyond what it does — it’s shaped by the environment around it.

Scent plays a big role in that. It can signal a shift, create consistency, and turn something routine into something you actually look forward to.

That’s why we approach custom work the way we do. Not starting with fragrance, but with intention — what the product is meant to do, how it’s used, and how someone should feel in that moment.

From there, every decision builds on that foundation. The scent, the vessel, the details — all working together to create something that feels natural to the brand and intuitive to the person using it.

Because when it’s done right, it doesn’t feel like an add-on. It feels like it was always meant to be there.

Looking Ahead

This is what excites us about custom work.

When you move beyond product and start thinking about experience, you create something that stays with people longer.

Something that becomes part of their routine, not just something they use once.

And for us, that’s the difference between a product people like and a product people come back to.
